The power and glory of Courageous Living — that’s what we witnessed as millions of Americans rose up to say “NO!” to the inhumane U.S. immigration policy that has been mercilessly ripping families apart.
No, Mr. President. No, Mr. Sessions. No, elected officials. You cannot do this. Not on our watch.
It took courage for all of us to stand up and speak out against an abhorrent “Zero Tolerance” policy that has separated 2,300 immigrant children from their parents.
Thank you, Melania and Ivanka. Thank you, Laura. Thank you, Michelle.
And thank you to those on the global stage, including Pope Francis, for the courage to express their outrage.
Thank you, as well, to all those who refused to accept the latest in a series of Trump Administration blunders brought to light at makeshift “detention centers” along the border.
Thanks – grudgingly — to the Trump Administration for finally yielding to public outcry and signing an Executive Order that temporarily calms the storm.
Children being used as innocent pawns in a political play for Trump’s Border Wall was indefensible.
Parents from impoverished Central American countries who came to our borders seeking refuge, have had to face a level of inhumanity and incivility almost equal to what they hoped to flee.
This whole episode was another in a series of heartless political charades. Will 2,300 children now be rejoined with their deported and/or incarcerated parents? How? When? At what cost, emotionally, fiscally and to our international status as champions of human rights?
Courageous Living means standing up for what you believe in.
Let’s stand together – Democrats and Republicans — and summon the courage to fight for the America we cherish. And not stop until we have restored our nation to dramatically higher levels of decency, civility and compassion.
