I’ve put a lot of hard miles on these knees, playing basketball and club soccer, competing in the Senior Olympics, and hiking trails across the world the past 69 years. But the pain got to be too much. When I re-imagined my best possible future last year, I saw myself hiking, sleeping, dancing and living pain free.
Last week, after 4 months of preparation, I underwent knee replacement surgery. As the meds wear off and my body begins to heal, I’m excited about my new life and wanted to share this part of my journey with you.
I’m so deeply grateful to be living at a time in history, and in a world, where brilliant doctors can replace knees, shoulders, kidneys and hearts, alleviate pain, and allow us to dance again!
